    Slow Shutdowns

Has anyone experienced any slow shutdowns in regards to Windows 7? My times seem to vary from a few seconds to 10 - 15 minutes. I've had long shutdowns using Vista but that was on rare occasions, with Windows 7 within 2 days I've had 4 shutdowns pass the 10 minute mark.

Hello LoosyGoosy, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if this may be able to help by lowering the time a bit.

    Shut Down -Speed Up

Do you have all programs and windows closed before shutting down?

    Hope this helps for now,
    Shawn

    Hi all
    nice tutorial - thanks.

Check also if you are using system services like say music streaming servers etc as these take time to shut down.

Large paging files can also cause longer shutdowns - move these to faster disks or split them up.

Any DB (database system - MySQL, SQLlite, etc.) needs to be shut down properly -- also takes time.

Apache / IIS server systems also need to be "Quiesced" properly.

Other software that can cause excessively long shutdowns are

    AV software,
Sneakware running (such as those things like Drivermax)
Background processes like Adobe Updater / Adobe Acrobat fast launch etc etc.

Check your system services / startup programs.

    Cheers
