Problem with placing a clock-face on my desktop

    :)Hi,

I'm new here, and have come to ask about a problem of placing a clock-face on my desktop.

I had it there for years and then suddenly, without warning, it didn't show when I turned on my computer. This was about 5 days ago and I have been trying daily to get it back again.

I have seen all the gadgets and have clicked on the clock and it is supposed to just appear on my desktop, but it doesn't do this. I am puzzled, and annoyed now.

So then, any advice about this will be used in the process of peace in our house! I have gone on a bit about it, I must admit!

    Hi, Welcome to Sevenforums.

You can try to download from MS site again and try to place again. The old gadget file might have been corrupted. Meanwhile, run antivirus and check for Malwares. Run Malware byte to scan the PC.

This may be caused by a problem with IE11. See this thread. https://www.sevenforums.com/browsers-...ernatives.html

    Welcome to the Seven Forums

Check out that link that kado897 posted above but I'm going to guess your computer just recently updated and most likely give you IE 11 and most likely changed your DPI settings, look at this tutorial DPI Display Size Settings - Change and see if it is set above 100% if so that is the problem you will need to lower it to 100% or use one of the clock gadget that I repaired in that thread that kado897 posted above.

    Rainmeter

You could build your own clock (and other gadgets) using Rainmeter.
    Rainmeter, desktop customization tool

You can also download Rainmeter gadgets that other people have created.

    Here are my Rainmeter gadgets:

I've taken your advice and have changed the DPI settings from 125 to 100. It made clocks appear all over my desktop! That was because they were all the previous attempts Mr B and I had tried! It took ages to delete them, individually. Now though, the smaller clock does not have a seconds hand, which I used to find very useful on the old design.

Also the calendar gadget I have there is smaller. The calendar had remained while the clock had disappeared, you see, and now I have them both together again! Aww! :)

Another change that has come about with changing the DPI settings is the smaller size of the inbox and the smaller text, so if that can be changed to be larger and easier to read then let me know.

    All grateful, all round. :)

You could always set your DPI back to the 125% and use the clock and calendar gadget that I edited they works at the higher DPI setting.

    Cheers!

:) I am pleased to tell you that all is well again! Genius! Thank you very much! And I was well clever to even find this website! So cheers all round

The problem is fixed. I have the clock back, and I found out how to restore the second hand too! Also, I have the larger size text in my inbox, which was how it was before, and it lasted for years.

I do not know why these problems came about in the first place. Mr B always told me never to load IE11 yet somehow it installed itself and that must be what caused the problems.

Thank you to the posters who came on here for me. I will be back if needs be. I must now click the Problem Solved box.
