Nad for the remark i looked for the ati catalyst control centre for the win7 in IBM T60p an there is none in the lenovo support site. so the porblem might be that they havent made none yet .... so if it is so its back to xp
yes i did uninstall and reboot and then installed as recommended
Could you fill out your system specs in your CP, it may help to see your other hardware.
Don't even get me started. It does installs when you tell it not to. But it doesn't actually do the installs. Just makes you wait half an hour, then when you get logged on, the same installs are waiting to be activated.
Reliability monitor will not reset. In fact my OS crashed opening this feature.
Permissions not saving, network discovery will not turn on. Windows Media Player won't disable. Media Center barely operates, I have 3 GB ram and I might as well have a Commodore 64....anyone remember those.
Annoying feature of Win7. LIBRARIES. Hate it, but no easy way to disable it, without downloading a .reg fix.
Inconsistent boot times for no apparent reason. Files not associating properly.
This is all, (except for the libraries thing) sh*t that has popped up since a repair install.
Scrolling, I constantly find myself having to re-scroll the screen because it flickers up then down, maybe browser issue, but none the less.
There are more, just can't think of them right now.
Thought this would be the end all be-all OS, but, like Vista, it's worth it's weight in dung.
I am gonna try one more clean install, if I have one more problem, my PC is gonna become a door stop.
But yeah, other than that, at leas MS is consistent.
I understand your frustration devildog, but do you have anything in commond with the other posters on this problem? Ie, video card type etc. Just to clarify, did any of you run the upgrade advisor before taking the seven plunge? And if so, what were the possible compatability issues reported?
Been having the same problem for the last three weeks now.
I originally notice it when playing a game full screen (Stalker: CoP). The game kept dropping out of fullscreen and into minimised mode. The only immediate cure was to kill Windows Explorer. Once killed off I could Alt-Tab back to the game and everything was fine. Of course exiting the game presented me with no Windows Explorer - a tad inconvenient.
Later I noticed a few other problems after rebooting, these are:
- Windows (not all) flicker around the edges.
- MCE does not appear to be affected.
- Immediate cure (in order to play games) is to kill Windows Explorer.
- Moving affected windows is impossible when grabbing the title bar.
- Associated popup menus are useless because they disappear when attempting a selection.
- Trying to rename a file or folder buy slow-double click is now impossible.
I have downloaded the latest (10.3) ATI drivers (and CCC) for my 5870. This has had no effect.
The only success I had was when I decided to restore my system from a restore point last month. This appeared to work for a few days, i.e. I could play my game without resorting to killing off Windows Explorer, however the problem returned yesterday.
I'm going to perform a restore tonight and monitor any automatic installs that occur thereafter. I'd rather not go through the hassle of re-installing Windows 7 and retuning both my terrestrial and satellite tv.
Cheers,
VicDad.
P.S. My machine is as follows:
AMD 3800 X2, ASRock M/B, 4GB DDR2, ATI 5870, Blackgold 3450 Tuner, OrigenAE S16V case, Zalman PSU, Windows 7 Home 64Bit and various HDDs.
I haven't performed a roll back yet, but I have removed the latest updates to Windows. I've yet to restart because I have a few recordings going on at the moment, but it seems that the removal of some of these updates appears to have cured for the problem, for now.
Those that are suspect are:
- KB976002
- KB981332
- KB980232
- KB979683
- KB979309
- KB978601
- KB980182
- KB980302
- KB976264
I have to say that these are also installed on my HP ZD8303ea laptop with Windows 7 Pro (32bit) with no problems.
Still plenty of unanswered questions....
VicDad.
which programs did you recently install??, (any 3rd party????)
