Yea it does only show recent folders visited,
In my defense Microsoft removed Recent Items from Favorites/ this same menu was renamed Recent places,
Now you can add it to the Stat menu list which shows up to about 30 recent items,
Recent Items - Enable or Disable

Does it show them in a reasonably chronological order that matches a test you've actually done? Everything I see in 'Recent Places' on my system is just total gibberish completely unrelated to any sequence of folders I've just viewed. You're REALLY seeing such a list of folders you just visited?

Can anyone else here confirm or refute this? Still wondering if it's something at this end.

BTW: I see neither 'Recent Places' or 'Recent Items' in Vista at all. Just 'Recent PLaces' in Win7.

You should be able to set "Recent Places" to "Details" view and then sort by "Date Modified".

On my PC, I have noticed that folders aren't necessarily added to the history (even if you open/save files to them).

Have done exactly that many, many times... and get nothing remotely resembling what I get when I click the drop-down list from that tiny triangle in WE.... the menu that was the focus of my question at the top of this thread.

Exactly!

At least where you guys are talking about in 'Recent Places." Sorting the main '(user)\Recent' menu by 'Date Modified' works to a degree. But I've never seen a reasonably accurate history in any places outside that drop-down menu next to WE's Back & Forward buttons.

Feels like I'm chasing my tail here.... but how the history is kept there, and whether or not it can accessed and displayed differently is what I was hoping someone here could shed some light on. Maybe it's time to dig up my old access info & revisit the gurus on the Compuserve WUGNET forums.

Basic File Operations Only

I rarely use those features in Windows Explorer.
I only use Windows Explorer for basic file operations.

I use FreeCommander, when I have some heavy duty file operations to perform (involving more than 1 or 2 files).

It has:
  • A twin pane interface
  • Tabbed interface support
  • Mass file renaming tool
  • History for each tab (individually)

Sudden Increase in Number of Files on System
I just reviewed my Avira Anti-Virus scan logs which showed roughly 250K scanned files in early May. A week later the scans were showing over 300K scanned files. Not more than a few small programs were installed. There were a few Windows updates. Any idea why that scan count increased so much? ...

IE9 - How to increase the number of simultanous downloads
OK, coming to the experts to advise the "correct" way to increase the number of simutaneous downloads under IE9. I read that prior to IE8 that the number of downloads was limited to 2 for HTTP 1.1 and 4 for HTTP 1.0. Per MS, in IE8 this was increased to 6 and 6 and they provided a Fix-It to go...
