We are using Thunderbird as both a stand alone e-mail ap and the Lightning Calendar that is an add-on to it. Works just fine for our needs. Mozilla is constantly updating their programs, which are totally free BTW.

Ok I 've followed your advices and i downloaded both Windows live mail and Outlook. At the first look it seems win liv mail il easier to use then Outlook, isnt'it ?
I have a couple of question for you:
    1) my first point is , I would like to store all my e.mail and enclosuers in my hard disc on my pc, I' have heard that win live mail is working in I cloud, is it correct , so no email back up on the pc ?
    2) I 've made the back up of all my old e mails on the external hard disc, with which of the two systems ( win live mail and Outlook) will be easier to import the Windows mail data from the hard disc ? How to do that ?

1.) Windows live mail can back up emails and setting. See the file-export email option. Outlook can as well.

    2.) Both do it easily.

Difference is, windows live mail is free, outlook isn't.
