How are you accessing that truncated System Recovery Options menu?

If it's via F8 then it uses onboard System files which may be corrupted beyond repair. Try booting the Win7 installer media or System Repair Disk

With that level of infection you'll spend more time never getting it cleaned up completely than you would if you invest it in doing a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - steps are the same for retail.

after scanning with win defender (and removing several trojans) i have tried to scan with AVG (nothing detected), Bit defender ( the fancy menü gets screwed up and i cant do anything - tried 3 times), Kaspersky (stuck at 1% for 2 hours), Avira (stuck at 79% after 1 hr 50 mins - twice). Trying Avira again currently....

Let us know how it goes. You can rescue your files if needed as shown in tutorial but they need to go into quarantine until scanned by Malwarebytes and your AV.

Sorry for the late update. I bought an SSD and installed windows 8.1 OS in it and kept the the previously infected C drive as an extra directory. Then I used a trial version of norton and panda cloud AV to clean up the viruses in the infected drive. I am hoping it is completely cleaned.
