The Sentinel64 service failed to start..then...Boom Window Crashes!!

Hi gurus, please help me with this. My Windows 7 gets unresponsive and I have to reset the PC

So, I checked the Event Viewer and found a few Red and Yellow exclamations with the following informations.

Also a few days ago Tune Up Utilities found that Sentinel64 driver was not found and Windows might crash for this reason. In the device manger I checked Show Hidden Devices and under the Non Plug and Play drivers I saw an exclamation near the Sentinel64 driver and I uninstalled it, thinking that windows might install it back at the next restart, but apparently it didn't.

Please help me if you have some free time.

System specs are Proc Core i7, Mem 12 Gig, GPU ATi 4870 CrossFire, PSU 1100W Tagan,

and extra stuffs connected to the PC are a Wacom tablet and an XBox 360 controller.

Don't listen to Tuneup Utilities, it just causes problems and isn't recommended by anyone. I'll remove that program immediately when you get the chance.

Sentinel64.sys isn't a Windows file, it's a third-party driver, so I don't understand where Tuneup got their information that Windows wouldn't boot without it?

Specifically, it belongs to Rainbow Tech/SafeNet USB Security Device. Here's their support page - Technical Support - Drivers and Developer Kits

Are you able to boot into Safe Mode?

Hi thanks for replying. I can boot normally, but it crashes intermittently. With all those errors showing up in the event viewer.

Then I have no idea where it came from. I have a Software that has a FLEXlm license server running. Does it have anything

    to do with this.

Flexlm is just a program to give out licenses to software shared on a network. Are you trying to connect to any websites which use the HTTPS protocol?

Boot into Safe Mode, and then install that Sentiel64.sys driver again. That should hopefully solve one problem.

Hi, I have searched for sentinel64 and put two of them in the trash can. That's what been written in the Sentinel site as well. Removed some Hasp stuff too with a command line utility from Hasp's site. I guess these files got installed along with Lightwave trial.

No errors shown in the Event Viewer yet. Hope this has solved the problem

FYI : FlexLM and HASP (as Robot pointed out) are 3rd party licencing/authorisation tools. FlexLM for network licences and HASP for USB dongle licences. You will need to manually install those...its not part of a Windows update.

Hey there, yeah like I said above your post, most probably I got the Sentinel64 driver when I installed Ligthwave trial. Though can't exactly remember where I got Hasp from. I just hope removing those have solved my Windows crashes. 8 hours and still running without any crashes.

Hi it crashed again today I could move the cursor but everything else froze. Please check the attached event log if you have time. And the Sentinel64 is still somewhere else as it's still showing up in the Event Viewer.

    Thanks.

    Event ID 7000:

    Code:
The Sentinel64 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.
It can't find the driver, that's the problem.

Have you removed the entire program?
