I'm a New Member, A THANKS to Brink.....
I just joined this forum, because of the extraordinary detailed procedure Brink wrote on
"How to Change UAC Notification Settings in Windows 7".
I recently had a disk crash followed by an expensive but complete data recovery. The old drive was toast so I upgraded to a 128gb sata SSD for o/s and apps, and a 500gb sata HD for data. I also added a WD USB3 1tb external dedicated to auto-backup. Windows 7 cold IPL's in 13 seconds after the BIOS. 5 seconds after a Waken.
First up was upgrading from XP Pro (ahhh so comfortable to use after 9+ years) to Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.
Then I had to reinstall all my old apps. However, after a Windows 7 update last week, it seems my Admin Rights got modified somehow (subject of another post coming soon) and now Thunderbird kept asking for permission to modify the computer. Almost all other programs just start normally, not Tbird. Drove me nuts.
I just did a quick Google on "Windows 7 UAC" which led me to that article.
Again Thank You Brink, that is one of the best written procedures I've ever followed. Took 10 minutes and worked without incident.
The geeks at MS responsible for this convoluted process should be forced to do it 10 times every day.
Why not just a simple "Trusted Apps" update?
