    Windows 7 won't Start up - Error code 0x490 and 0x00000050

    Hi,

I am currently having issues starting up my laptop which is running windows 7 home premium. It gets to the 'Starting Windows' screen with the Windows logo and gets stuck (the windows logo is still animated it just does not proceed further). I have searched the Internet high and low including these forums for an answer and I've tried as many possible solutions as I could but I cannot figure it out!

    How it started:
About 2 days ago I noticed my laptop slowed down quite drastically and so I launched task manager which showed the CPU usage was at about 30% with no programs running and none of the processes in task manager appeared to be responsible.

The start menu froze so I rebooted the computer by holding the power button and I have not been able to launch windows since.

I attempted to run safe mode but once it booted no text appeared and I then got a BSOD with the error code STOP: 0x00000050. I then booted it under "directory services restore mode" which worked and then safe mode worked after that, not sure why....

Also, under device manager I noticed that the "security processor loader" driver was not working correctly (error code: 24) so recently I uninstalled this driver.

Solutions Tried (roughly in order attempted and restarted after each attempt):

    • Tried start-up repair many times but get an error "system files integrity check and repair 0x490 error"
    • System restore
    • Attempted a clean boot
    • Did chkdsk /f from safe mode (returned nothing)
    • Did SFC /scannow from safe mode (returned nothing)
    • Scan with norton antivirus (returned nothing)
    • Scan with malware bytes (found a program called 'greatest arcade hits' which I subsequently removed, I think I accidentally installed this when in safe mode after these issues)
    • Updated my graphics and audio drivers - then uninstalled and re-installed them
    • Disabled most drivers

    My Laptop Specs:

    • Samsung - RF511
    • Windows 7 - Home Premium 64 bit
    • Intel core i5 - 2.5Hz
    • Intel HD Graphics

Is there something I am missing? I've tried everything I could think of doing, but I haven't been able to narrow down the possibilities at all and I'm running out of options!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in Advance!

You seem to have tried all the usual tricks to get this fixed. Have you tried a repair install?

You need to be able to boot into Windows to run a Repair Install.

Work through these steps which compile everything possible for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

You'll need to disinfect first since it may not repair if it's infected, but when you run Startup Repair be aware that it will not repair if you have not assured that the 100mb System Reserved partition (preferred if you have it) or C partition is Partition Marked Active. Then run Startup Repair- Run up to 3 Separate Times

Startup Repair should also offer to automate System Restore, but if not and it fails 3 times to start Win7 then run System Restore from System Recovery Options. These repairs should all be made from the disk. All disks needed are provided in the Troubleshooting tutorial above, along with tools to rescue your files and if necessary to do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
