Desktop dissapeared and can't access my Outlook account

Hello,

Today I opened my laptop, I tried to open my Outlook and it prompted me for a password (it never did that before). I restarted my laptop , and after the restart I lost all my desktop icons (I now have on desktop some icons I never had before), all my taskbar quick access icons and when I tried to open Outlook it prompted me to configure it as if I didn't have an account configured.

If anyone can help me with this problem I'd appreciate it.
Thank you.

If you have a Restore Point from just before this happened try using it.

Unfortunatelly I have no backup. Strange thing is that all my desktop items can be found in C:/User/Username/Desktop (there is only 1 user on my laptop)

Right. There's a desktop for each user and one in Public for all users(as in when you do an install for all users.)

Especially a Laptop is bound to encounter corrupted files. You should at least enable System Restore. Otherwise it's all just hoping you stay lucky.

Have you checked for any virus or malware infections?

Download and run "Unhide" http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

Run a full anti-virus scan.

It seems it was just an error that was switching my profile with the TEMP profile.
The solution from here worked for me.
