    os status


    Recently I had a thread on here about an agonizing windows 7 pro 64-bit
    update or upgrade. I have an HP p7-1380t with an OEM OS and all the garbage
    it entails. I was advised to reinstall the OS with x17-59186.iso spi u.
    I did so and it is working fine.

    My question is do I have an OEM or Full retail version? I have looked on the
    computer and can not find an answer. Reason I ask is when this computer dies,
    I want to take the disk from this computer and put it in the new one.
    Is this possible?

    An easy way to check if you have an OEM or a retail Windows 7:

    Right click Computer on Start Menu's right pane, select Properties. The part of your Product ID highlighted in yellow at the bottom of the screenshot below shows letters OEM if your Windows is an OEM version, three digits if it is a retail version:
