Can't open netplwiz or control userpasswords2

I can get to the icon for netplwiz but when I click on it, it asks me for the "Admin password and then click Yes" but doesn't give me a place to enter it and only has "NO" available.

Also under User Accounts/ "Change User Account Control settings" it gives me the same as above.

I've been playing around with having a password to Logon and don't know of anything else I did.

Also Run/"control userpasswords2" gives me the same request for Admin password but no place to enter it.

    Hello thewolfe,

Do you have UAC disabled by setting it to "Never Notify"? If so, then that would be why you are not allowed to enter an Administrator's password in an UAC prompt while logged in a standard user account.

If so, set UAC settings to at least the default level to see if that may help.

User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

    Hope this helps, :)

Are you logged in to an administrator account?

You could look in Control Panel -> User Accounts to see if your account has "Administrator" under it.

You'll need to log out, then log in to an available administrator account.

Do I "Log Off" with the Start button? I tried to put my username and password in I use to logon at start up but no go. I'm clicking on to "Other User" when I get a new logon screen.

Anyway to ck mu Admin username?

I can get into that computer thru my network if that would enable me to see the Admin name. I've been logging in at startup. Would that be my admin password?
