Windows 7 ultimate black screen, Help

    Hello,

Hopefully somebody might be able to help me, I had my main computer running as I was keeping a check on the wind gusts and we had a power cut which came back on straight away . So I turn on the computer again and after a while the same thing happened again. which I turned it on again this went on for about 7 - 8 time and went to turn it on again and it asked did I want to check the hard drive against checksum errors which I did thinking it would take a short time, I left it going all night and checked the morning to see that it was still running but a black screen I have tried everything including do the repair which it does not find anything I then try the system restore option but comes back after waiting for a couple of hours as failed, what can I do, I don't really want to install it again as I would lose all my information, programs, Pictures, files, etc.

Any help or advice would be great..

    Thanks

    Sam

Hi, This is really one of those occasions when should have heeded the first power outage as a warning and left the machine off. I suspect your hard drive is so corrupted the only thing to do is a fresh install of Windows 7. You did have a back up of your software and photos? If not you will probably learn from this to buy at least a USB drive and maybe an external to back up to. Sorry if this sounds harsh but learn from this mistake. There is even a possibility you may have damaged the drive and it needs replaced. All electronic devices and especially hard drives do not like power going on off in rapid succession. If you have another machine you could try to read your data from the other machines OS. If repair option is not working that is your best bet.

See if you can browse into the HD to rescue any data using Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console or Paragon Rescue Kit Free Edition 11.0 Free CD

Test the HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan.

Then run a full Disk Check.

This will either confirm the HDD good, repair the HDD, or pronounce it dead.

Would you please focus on the steps you have been given, gettin them done? You wanted our help, right?

What are the results of the specfiic hard drive tests I gave you?

If it passes the HD tests then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
