    Rename shortcut for folder


    I have a Shortcuts folder on my desktop, with several files and folders inside. When I try to rename anything inside the Shortcuts folder, it wont rename. If I pull it out to the desktop, I can rename it there and then put it back in Shortcuts folder and all is ok BUT why is it doing this ?? , it did not used to do this, but I am alwat playing around , often way past my abilities ....

    Hi Wingman1800
    Right click on the shortcut select properties and look at the security tab. Under your user name (for example Tom) check you have full control. If not select advaced and change the permissions to full control under you user name. That should fix it. If not get the Take Ownership from here:

    Thanks Indianatone, I had to use the "take ownership" but now works perfectly... Thank You
