Some programs are not responding when you run.

Could anyone help me... I'm trying to fix issues on my Windows 7 Home Basic 32-bit since last week.
So I updated my windows. Unfortunately Microsoft Security Essentials doesn't update and gets 0x80070002 error. Which I can't fix.
I decided to uninstall MSE, but there's an error message "epp.msi is not a valid installation package" so I tried this method: MSE Client update failed, getting error message saying that epp.msi is - Microsoft Community
    a. To do this run the FixIt tool from the following links.
    b. Click the below link and select Run Now button.
Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled
    c. After downloading and running for the first time
    d. Select Run on small pop-up window and select Run on Internet Explorer-Security Warning Window.
    e. Select Detect problems and let me select the files to apply.
    f. Select Uninstalling.
    g. After detecting problems Select Microsoft Security Client to uninstall and click Next.
    h. Repeat the steps from b to f and, this time select Microsoft Antimalware from list to uninstall and click Next.
    i. Restart your computer and reinstall Microsoft Security essentials.
    j. If issue is not resolved, go to Step 3
I was able to remove MSE, but doesn't followed the step "h" since I can't find "Microsoft Antimalware"
Some programs like uTorrent doesn't respond when you run it. My windows is up to date.
One more thing, I'm trying to use sfc/scannow but it automatically closes (I run it as Administrator).

    Welcome to the forums Takenoshin!

What Anti/Virus and/or anti-malware do you have on your machine? You could try running them in safe mode. Sounds to me like you have a pretty good infection. You can try this too, its very good and free. Just click on the link : Free Virus Scan | Online Virus Scanner from ESET

Please fill out your specs when you have the chance, makes it easier for people to give you a hand!

Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

    Another useful one to use.

download AdwCleaner by Xplode and save to your Desktop.

    • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Vista/Windows 7/8 users right-click and select Run As Administrator.
    • Click on the Scan button.
    • AdwCleaner will begin...be patient as the scan may take some time to complete.
    • After the scan has finished, click on the Report button...a logfile (AdwCleaner[R#].txt) will open in Notepad for review (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
    • The contents of the log file may be confusing. Unless you see a program name that you know should not be removed, don't worry about it. If you see an entry you want to keep, let me know about it.
    • Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
    • A copy of all logfiles are saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder which was created when running the tool.

Using AdwCleaner v3: Scan & Clean:
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool again.
    Click on the Scan button.
AdwCleaner will begin to scan your computer like it did before.
    After the scan has finished...

This time click on the Clean button.
Press OK when asked to close all programs and follow the onscreen prompts.
Press OK again to allow AdwCleaner to restart the computer and complete the removal process.
After rebooting, a logfile report (AdwCleaner[S#].txt) will open automatically (where the largest value of # represents the most recent report).
Copy and paste the contents of that logfile in your next reply.
A copy of that logfile will also be saved in the C:\AdwCleaner folder

I like that junkware removal program!; I just downloaded and ran it myself and it discovered a whole bunch of junkware that it removed and repaired the registry entries too. The only thing i dont like about it; is its extremely processor intensive. my banner warning displaying the warning threshold temp i have set for my motherboard came up and i knew it was because of that.

Getting back to the topic; I too believe its a good idea to run these to make sure you dont have any garbage in there that might be causing the issue(s).

Yeah JRT and Adwcleaner are excellent, they removed alot of stuff from your computer mate, one must watch what he downloads and methods used,

    RogueKiller:
    http://tigzy.geekstogo.com/roguekiller.php
Select the version that applies to the system.
    Save to the Desktop.

After closing all windows and browsers, right-click the downloaded RogueKiller file and select: Run as Administrator
At the program console, wait for the Prescan to finish. (Under Status, it says: Prescan finished.)
    Press: SCAN

When done, a report opens on the drive: RKreport.txt

Let's get rid of your temporary files....
download TFC by Old Timer TFC - Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer - Geeks to Go Forums and save it to your desktop.
Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser and desktop!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista/Windows 7 right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.

*** keep this convenient application and use!
