Windows Reinstall, wont take SP1 media refresh with original key

    Of course I read posts before yours, and I ask again, What are you talking about ?

    Retail, or Non branded OEM disc (downloaded and burned yourself ), it doesn`t matter Retail or OEM key activates both, as Greg says, it`s all the same.

    He wanted to use his System Builders OEM key on a fresh install using the latest installer with SP1 on the same machine, it should work, no problem.

    Right, my laptop is windows 7 home premium x64 OEM, my pc i built myself, i purchased win 7 home premium 32/64 bit retail, i downloaded 7 home premium 64 OEM sp1 off net to re-install windows to remove crap/bloatware, i can register laptop with laptops key no problem, i cannot register laptop with my key from retail version of win 7 as windows tells me invalid key, if i try registering my pc retail windows with laptop key i get invalid key, same with my XP Pro laptop OEM and retail version for PC, either way key is invalid
