Windows Reinstall, wont take SP1 media refresh with original key

    Okay. I tried your method and it simply didnt work. I did exactly what you said, downloaded the .iso, extracted the files into a folder, integrated the updates, then used the win7 usb-dvd tool to burn to the usb. I tried installing from it and the installation failed at a certain point, saying it could not install a certain feature or configure it, restarted it several times and still failed. I had to use my original disc and suffer the updates.

    Using the updater sometimes requires interactive Support from the author or others who are usually quick to answer. Since it's really for enthusiasts and not consumers who want pushbutton ease I will stop linking it generally. There really is only an hour's Updates after install anyway so you're not saving that much time unless you do installs regularly.

    Be sure to enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) and run all rounds of Important and Optional Updates until there are no more.

    I NO THIS IS AN OLD POST BUT IF PEOPLE STILL READ THIS, THE ISSUES IS OEM/RETAIL, LAPTOPS/PC's FROM SHOPS USE OEM, OPERATING SYSTEMS PURCHASED FROM SHOPS ARE RETAIL, THE REASON YOUR KEY DOES NOT WORK IS YOU HAVE RETAIL VERSION, OEM VERSION IS NEEDED, CHEERS

    i have never been able to register my laptop 7 home premium with 7 home premium i purchased for pc i built or vice versa and thats same with my xp laptop/pc
