hffsrv.exe exception error popup at boot to win 7 Pro - help

I am suddenly getting and application error popup window that states the following: Exception ESRegistry in module hffsrv.exe at 0000AD02 failed to set data for hffsrv.

Is this a program that is necessary or is it something else that can be removed?

Any assistance would be appreciated, still learning the many nuances/surprises with Win 7

hffsrv.exe is a program used to help hide files and user passwords. it stands for hidde files and folders (the rest I dont know). try running start up repair. it may fix it.

Thanks badger - now I know what it is, but cannopt find it listed in programs or in Revo or Obit uninstallers.

I have suddenly lost my Start Up - the area is blank? How in Hell did that happen?
