Hello RunOrDie,
Correct, the problem lays with Microsoft.NET Framework, which can't be repaired since it claims that the source file is also corrupted.
I have asked our resident WU (Windows Update) expert to take a look at it, please be patient until they arrive.Code:2014-01-06 22:08:14, Info CSI 000001fb [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"mscorwks.dll" of NetFx-MSCORWKS_DLL, Version = 6.1.7601.18140, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope neutral, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:b03f5f7f11d50a3a}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2014-01-06 22:08:16, Info CSI 000001fd [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"mscorwks.dll" of NetFx-MSCORWKS_DLL, Version = 6.1.7601.18140, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope neutral, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:b03f5f7f11d50a3a}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2014-01-06 22:08:16, Info CSI 000001fe [SR] This component was referenced by [l:154{77}]"Package_1_for_KB2833946~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.1.2833946-6_neutral_GDR" 2014-01-06 22:08:16, Info CSI 00000201 [SR] Could not reproject corrupted file [ml:520{260},l:102{51}]"\??\C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727"\[l:24{12}]"mscorwks.dll"; source file in store is also corrupted
In the mean time, please try to repair .NET Framework via both these methods;
- Click on the .
- Click on Control Panel and then on Uninstall a Program under Programs.
- Wait for the list to load, and then right-click on the Microsoft .NET Framework entry.
- Click on Uninstall/Change, accept the UAC prompt and click on Repair .NET Framework to its original state.
- Follow the on screen instructions and reboot afterwards.
If the repair is unsuccessful, you can try the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool or manually download the failed update from here; KB2833946.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Nommy
Thanks so much nommy!
Do you also think this is what is causing the error when I try to back up via a System Image?
Update: The repair was successful when I "Repaired .NET Framework to its original state" via Control Panel.
However, I still get the same error from SFC /SCANNOW.
Hello RunOrDie,
I myself don't use system imaging so I wouldn't know for sure.
A few questions to shoot down the obvious causes;
Does the device where you are backing the images up to have enough free space?
Are you running any programs whilst creating the image?
You can try the following to rule out any programs that might be conflicting;
- Preform a clean boot by following step one from this tutorial.
- Without opening any programs, attempt to create a system image within the clean boot.
If correct, the process should work without a hitch. If not, please check your backup media for any flaws (eg not enough free space, test for bad sectors via CHKDSK).
Hmm, if the repair is successful then the error should be gone. Have you rebooted between repairing the issue and rerunning SFC?
If not, please do so and rerun SFC.
If yes, please try to manually redownload KB2833946 and install it via the on screen instructions. Afterwards, reboot and preform another SFC scan.
If that doesn't solve it I am out of suggestions and we can best wait for Noel to check (Noel is the WU expert).
Good luck and keep us posted,
Nommy
Hi Nommy,
With regards to my System Image, it has always worked flawlessly before all of this.
I have already ran CHKDSK yesterday and it replaced many bad sectors. Do I need to run it again?
I will update with regards to the SFC /SCANNOW issue.
Update: I have Repaired my Microsoft .NET again and was wondering why it allowed me to repair it again..It had already repaired it the last time (1 hour ago).
I will download the file and report back.
Hello RunOrDie,
No need to run CHKDSK again. Have you also tried the clean boot procedure to rule out interfering programs? And has the device where you are backing the images up to have enough free space?
Also, are you backing your system images up to an external device, on a different partition of the machine you are creating the image on or on the same drive you are creating the image from? If the latter, do note that it's best to create the image on external media, so that if Windows becomes corrupted or messed up in any other way you can still access the image.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Nommy
Yep, I have ruled out the interfering programs. And I am backing onto an external hard drive, with enough free space.
So with those options rued out, do you now think both of these issues are related?
With regards to the SFC /SCANNOW, I ran the repair again via Control Panel and from the Windows NET repair, all without luck. Now I will download KB2833946 and try.
Now, after downloading KB2833946, it says I already have that installed...so now I guess both of us are stumped.
Third party programs (programs not created by Microsoft) can interfere with the backup process yes.Yep, I have ruled out the interfering programs. And I am backing onto an external hard drive, with enough free space.
So with those options rued out, do you now think both of these issues are related?
And if your external hard drive doesn't have enough free space for the image then obviously it wouldn't work either.
I assume that you are using Windows' native system image tool?
Many of us here on the Forums prefer Macrium Reflect over the native tool, as it's much faster and more efficient, you can check the tutorial here if you want.
Oops, that's a flaw on my side:)
You should first uninstall KB2833649 by following this tutorial. Forgot to mention that, sorry.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Nommy
I don't have KD2833649 installed..
I just searched.
Guess we should wait for Noel?
