Shut down after no activity

After about 2 or 3 hours of no activity, my computer just shuts down. I have checked power settings, etc. and nothing shows up as a possible cause. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Look in Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Task Scheduler to see if you have any tasks that "Start when Idle".

A possible cause could be a faulty power supply which is overheating. Dirt in the case may be a contributing factor preventing proper air flow.

I believe that would have the opposite effect, such as activating the system from a suspended state. Of course, I could be missing something here.

Normally, yes. However I was thinking of a task that would contain an unusual command, such as 'shutdown'.

MS-DOS shutdown command help

...Because in my mind, when unusual things start occurring in general - pc or just in life, then unconventional and unusual responses are appropriate.
