Deleted "My Pictures" folder

Hi,

I have completely deleted the My Pictures folder (C:\Users\Me\Pictures), and I cannot restore this "special" user folder.

How can I?

Hello Hatter the Mad, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If it's still in the Recycle Bin, then you can just restore it from the Recyle Bin. If not, then you can type shell:My Pictures in the Start Menu search box to restore it. You may need to restart the computer afterwards to full apply.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Thanks for the reply! I have done that, but it is not renaming itself to "My Pictures" or restoring the icon

What is it doing instead? Could you also post a screenshot of it as well?

It just looks like a regular folder, called "Pictures". However, it does act like the user shell folder (i.e. when you right-click you can set its location). It just doesnt have the correct icon, nor rename itself to "My Pictures"

Did you try to manually recreate the user folder by chance?

Try OPTION TWO for the Pictures folder in the tutorial below to restore it's default location, then restart the computer. You may need to restart a couple of times though.

User Folders - Restore Default Location

If this does not help, then please post a screenshot of this folder and it's location to help determine what may have happened.

An easy way to restore a shell folder like My Pictures is to copy an empty one of the same name from another user, even if you have to create then later delete that other user. In the local copy, go to Properties and make sure Location is what you want. Anyone see a problem with this solution?
