Don't shell out. HDMI cables are all the same. If your paying more then $10, your getting ripped off.

Monoprice: HDMI Cables - Monoprice.com

Bought several from them. Work fantastic.

Actually Andrew I beg to differ on this one. The cheap hdmi cables are no good IMO
. I tried a inexpensive one and that one crapped out on me within less than a week. So IMHO they are better off spending a little more and getting better quality. Now I'm not saying he has to go out and spend 100 bucks on a monster hdmi cable like I did a few years ago. But hr can spend 30 to 50 bucks and get something decent which he is better off doing IMO

Interesting.

DVI cables can be expensive. You can get a new one at monoprice for pretty cheap if you like.

Before I shell out, could there be any other cause of the corruption?
Hi rundwald,

If output on MS word is working fine then it doesn't seem to be an issue with the cable or card. Kindly check again on the Firefox browser. If the issue only occurs on the Firefox only then you should try and re-install the browser.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

In end it was all connected with other problems I subsequently experienced. I called in a repairman and he found hard drive was beginning to fail, (not found by diagnostic tools). Since then all is OK. By happenstance I also changed the power cable. solving another problem
