Tuneup scan deleted all my email folders/files.....

[Dell Inspiron 560 desktop; MS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit; Windows Live Mail 2011; MS Word Pro 2003; Mozilla Firefox 22.0; Adobe FP 11,8,800,94; Adobe Reader 11.......]

    Hello, hope for help:

I bought a tuneup from GeekTech supposedly to fix errors, speed it up, etc....not only it didn't do any of those things but it ate up all my email folders (the ones I created) and their files inside, as well as some functions in MS Word! Also experienced a sort of earthquake with many windows flying in and out, etc. so I just uninstalled it and it stopped. Angrily I then demanded, and received, the refund.

I asked them to get those files back to me but they said they won't because I was given a refund. I know they aren't right, but I'm now in the process of get them to do this for me. But . . .

. . . meantime, would anyone know how to get these back? I tried going to Start Search and saw they seem to be all there, however . . . I can't get them back to my email. If anyone knows, kindly give me the step by step for me to try?

Thanks ever so much for any help to recuperate these important folders. :) Adela

    Adela,
Have you tried a system restore back to where "tuneup" wasn't purchased and you files were visible?
It may restore your files but I am not familiar with tuneup and how deep a scan/clean it does.

Tuneup Utilities, if that`s what you mean, will not delete anything ( unless you tell it to, especially mail ) this is why I say and say again, never download mail to your pc. Use your internet service providers email program, or yahoo or gmail etc.

And never use cleaners or registry cleaners or optimization programs in the first place.

Thank you for welcoming me to 7 Forums! :)

Also thanks for your advice, but searching on how to find the system restore I found this clarification:

Important: System Restore will not revert any of your non-system files like documents, email, music, etc. to a previous state. These types files are completely unaffected by System Restore. If your intention with this tool was to recover a deleted non-system file, try using a file recovery program instead of System Restore.
...and since my lost folders/files are those I created rather than the system files, I won't be able to use this utility. (All my system files, like Inbox, Drafts, Sent, etc. are there...only empty!) Did I interpret this correctly?

    Thanks again.

Thank you again AddRAM, I learned my lesson; however, don't like to work onn web-based email programs like my server's. And they help ONLY if it has to do with the internet. If the internet works, they say there's nothing wrong with their cable and that's that.... :)

You say never to download mail to a pc; but i use and always have used outlook as my mail program. I dont go to a actual web page to reply to and or compose email; so what about this?(btw dont mean to hijack thread; was just inquiring)

and yea i too agree never use those utility programs as they can and a lot of times do unfortunately get rid of important items. I would only use the programs the guys on here recommend as they seem to do the job.
