Need help finding lost Desktop Folder

This morning when I booted up I looked for my Mozilla Thunderbird Desktop folder. The folder contained the Thunderbird program shortcut and several files that have relevance to Thunderbird. I have searched it in vain. I know I did not accidently delete it and wonder it there is some way to retrieve it.

I am guessing that there may be a number of reasons for its disappearance, but would appreciate any suggestions for recovering it = I have files in it that I would hate to lose.

    Many thanks for any assistance,

    Mary

Maybe you can retrieve it from a previous restore point.

Yep. Like whs mentioned; try using a restore point. Click start, programs, accessories, then system tools, then system restore and there should be one or more restore points listed there. Try to do that following the instructions on screen and hopefully it will give you your folder back.

Good idea too. But if there are restore points, you can retrieve an individual file (see my post) rather than refreshing the whole system.

whs I just download Shadow Explorer. Haven't use it yet but it sure does look like the easy way of doing things.
    Thank you.

It is easy-peasy. And handy to retrieve lost files and folders. That's why I also make restore points in my data partition. An erroneous deletion of a file can easily happen.

Thanks to all responders for the input. I will first have a look at ShadowExplorer and see if it is able to restore the folder. If not I will use a system restore.

Many thanks for the ShadowExplorer suggestion - it worked and restored my Mozilla TBird desktop folder and its files.

I wasn't previously aware of this very useful app.
