How to track shortcuts to a file

I wish to rename some files - give them more 'efficient', logical names, but I know that in doing so, any shortcuts to the file might give problems.
Is there any way to know if any shortcuts exist to a given file?

Chiliem, sorry but the only way to find out which shortcut points to a file that you renamed is to look at the properties of each shortcut.

Windows had this functionality since Windows 95.

    See: Windows Confidential: Tracking Shortcuts

So go ahead, rename and change locations of your files, your shortcuts will continue to work.
