Friday night I had quick launch icons. Saturday morning I didn't. I also can't open the START menu and select "pin to start menu" on anything anymore. There are arrows next to certain programs as well (such as Word) that USED TO show recent documents but those don't even open anymore. All that...
Having just upgraded my home PC from XP-32 to Windows 7 64-bit (Professional), I'm 99% happy, but with a few open questions, that I could solve in days by diligent digging, or in minutes by asking here. So here goes.

Windows 7 uses a taskbar that is a bit thicker than XP and Vista's default. As a result, we get this:

Anyone have any idea on how to centre the quick launch icons so they match the taskbar icons? So things look normal?
I've been trying to get a "computer" shortcut icon to appear in the quick launch menu...
... no dice... any idea how?
I'm not talking about pinning it to the taskbar... I only want it in the quick launch menu.
