    Need some help or advice with file recovery


    I have the hard drive from my old laptop which was running ubuntu. I want to recover my personal files from it so I bought an external drive case hoping I could plug it in and access them. Windows recognizes it as an external drive but wont let me access it at all. Any ideas? Should I just take it to a tech and see what they can do?

    I would suggest booting from a Ubuntu Live CD on your Windows pc and mounting the laptop HD from there and transfer the files.
