    One good / One bad

I have been using Google Earth for many years without a single problem ,,,,,,, till now that is.
It works perfectly on my Laptop.
However when I try to start it on my Desk Top the initial black Google patch comes up. Then after a couple of seconds that tips page comes on. The tips page is frozen and I can't get rid of it either by clicking the red X (top left) or the close button the bottom. Then another message appears saying there is a problem do I want to send a report, I have clicked yes several times. I have uninstalled about 3 times and
    re-downloaded but no change.
Why the Desktop and not the Laptop????

Try changing the start up mode for Google Earth. Use either Direct X mode or Open GL mode. This website may help as well.

I assume both versions of GE are the same? (ie the laptop isn't an older one)

Do you know if you've updated any video drivers recently?

    Hello John,

First make sure you've uninstalled any old copy of Google Earth.

    Turn off Antivirus.

Here's an uninstall/ install guide to help you get in sorted.

    https://support.google.com/earth/answer/21955?hl=en&ref_topic=2376152

Before downloading uncheck the two boxes for Google Chrome.
Choose advanced setup. Uncheck automatically install recommended updates.
    Select Agree and Download
On the next page you’ll see this statement. Your download should start automatically. If it doesn’t, please click here. You’ll be prompted to run or save. Choose run.
    Click yes to allow.
Download starts. You may need to give permission to install. A yellow and blue shield may appear on the taskbar. Click it to allow the install.
A few more windows will pop up during the install. Make sure you uncheck anything you do not want to install, such as Google Toolbar.

If your having Graphic issues with Google Earth, try this tutorial.

    Hope this helps,
    John
