I've never seen an option to sort manually...perhaps you had a 3rd party application installed in Vista that allowed this?

No you don't understand, I had't any 3rd party applications on vista.

Try move files in your any hard disk, for example to set My pictures first folder, its impossible, win 7 automaticali sorting items, But on vista you can move your folders how you like to see.

I use word manually to explain what i need to do, of course there are't option to set manually

Hello; sikvdila,

Welcome to the forums.

Sorry I can't help with the sorting problem, but you can change your country in UserCP under 'edit your details'.

Just booted up a Vista machine, and I'm not able to do anything differently with the files there than in Windows 7, so no help here, sorry to say.

Vista had the option to 'Sort by None' if thats what you mean. You could drag files/folders into any order you like. Another user posted about this here: Can't drag and drop photo's

No sorting cabability

We just had new Windows 7 computers installed and I discovered I couldn't sort any way but alphabetically. My installer checked and told me it was just the W 7 default and nothing could be done about it save putting the appropriate letters or numbers in front of your file name to force it to list files or folders in the order you prefer. Apparently lots of people are unhappy about this but Microsoft doesn't care. I think it's the height of arrogance to think you should be deciding how everyone in the world sorts their files, especially since the concept of clicking and dragging was what was so great about Windows to begin with. I will definitely not buy this for home.

Hello,

Perhaps this may be what you are after.

Windows Explorer Auto Arrange - Disable

or

Folder View - Apply to Folders

or

Folder View - Set a Default for All Folders

Hope this helps,
Shawn

When I sort my folders using "date modified," instead of ordering everything, I instead get all of the subfolders sorted, and then below that everything else, so it looks like this: FOLDER A: 10th Jan FOLDER B: 7th Jan FOLDER C: 5th Jan Randomfile.png: 12th Jan Randomfile.mp3: 11th Jan...

Do I need to customize 7 to sort files this way ?
I have a large music collection which I add to frequently. My 'Albums' Directory is sorted by 'name' and grouped by 'date modified' so I can see my most recent additions at the top. When I add new albums they obviously come under the group 'today', but after only a week or so they are moved to...

Sort files globally?
Is there anyway to sort files globally? It seems everytime I open or close a folder, it re-sorts it to another criteria from when I last set it. For instance, I'll pick "ascending" and close the folder. Then when I come back to it later, it automatically switches to "descending" on it's own. ...

WLM-Cannot restore files to it, as did manual export
Fearing a loss of files before a tricky operation, I backed up the whole storage folder. I didn't look for the WLM program to do it, I just did it manually. That is, simply using Windows Explorer. Sure enough, some files were lost in WLM. But on trying to manually restore from my backup, the system...
