software to resizing partitions without data loss?

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit and looking for suggestions for a program that can manage partitions and resize them without data loss. Similar to Partition Magic from years ago.

Thanks

I use Mini Tool Partition Wizard. So far, I haven't lost any data when using it. Naturally, you would have to make sure you don't try to shrink a partition smaller than the data it contains. Defragging a partition before doing so is also a good idea (unless it's a SSD; those should never be defragged). Even though I've never lost data when shrinking a partition (yet), I always back it up first and strongly recommend you do so also.

Always backup before resizing a partition. These procedures usually proceed without issue but occasionally things go wrong with unpredictable results. Of course you should have a backup anyway. There are many ways you can loose data and you need to be prepared when (not if) something happens.

I have experienced a failure during a partition resize.

And do not use Partition Magic. It hasn't been updated for a long time and is not compatible with any OS released in the last 10 years.

I would use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to Resize Partition - Video Help.

We've never had a reported failure using the disk in tens of thousands of partitioning operations helped with here, while all others except Disk Mgmt can fail.

Absolutely. Loss of data has happened to me too. One little false maneuver did it. Fortunately I had my backup.

OK. I bought a 1.5 GB drive to store back up system images and large media files (DVD rips and such).
