You haven't "blown" any money. A good power supply can only be a benefit, and you can move it to a new build when it comes time to replace your existing computer.

Some things from your recent posts:

1. That red connector is for your Firewire port, according to the legend beside the connector on the motherboard.

What are you using to monitor your temperatures?

I don't have anything monitoring temperatures.

So since the problem wasn't the PSU, do I now need to replace the video card?

Okay, here's the screenshot.

I'm guessing my video card is running a little hot. The questions is why.Windows 7 Crashing / PC Shutting Down-speccy-2-24-14.jpg

Is the fan on the GPU turning? That's quite hot.

When was the last time it was cleaned out?

I just cleaned it a couple weeks ago when I had it open. I don't know if the fan is turning. I would have to have the case open and run it while it was open. That's a little hard to do with my setup but I could probably make it work.

Nope, the fan is definitely not spinning. Guess I found the problem. Time for a new one I guess.

Here's my question. I would like a good card, but don't want to break the bank. I don't do any PC gaming. The most would be Minecraft or Terreria that my son plays. We do watch videos/movies on it. My biggest obstacle is that I am limited to a single slot. The sound card is right above the video card and it doesn't look like I can relocate it. Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

I think this is in the realm of what I need:

That's not a bad card. I've got an XFX that I really like.
