    Retaining window position and size.

Something I like and can't seem to get Win 7 to do for me.....

I open a window for my computer, size it and set it at the upper left of my screen. I open folders in new windows; i.e. open the D: Drive and position it next to the window I opened for my computer. Close both. When I open my computer again it is now in the position where I opened the D: Drive.

How do I get specific windows to retain the size and position I set each time I open them rather then simply pick up the size and position of the last window I opened?

Sorry for this sophomoric question; I'll probably kick myself when I know the answer.

    Hello Roll,

Sorry, but all Windows Explorer windows in Windows 7 share the same position and size as the last one that was closed. They do not have individual folder view settings for these two items.

This is an absolutely BRUTAL problem, especially for those with multiple monitors.

I've done some digging on this issue and best solution is a program called WindowsManager, which is $10. Unfortunately it conflicts with a couple of my programs (SyncBack and SpeedFan). If I minimize either app to the taskbar, they get stuck there. Even closing/restarting them doesn't fix it.

I've aways found maximise window, then hold down control and close window, then open again generally stays maximised.

I have also found WindowsManager to be slightly problematic and have settled on Zmover to remember size and position.

    Wiondow resizing fix

This may be old news by now, but I've been using ShellFolderFix for months now. It saves thousands of window positions and sizes - AND IT'S FREE!
