So I upgraded from vista to 7 now . . what needs to go?

Like the title says I upgraded from vista to 7 and I am wondering if there is any relics of vista still on the system? I did use the disk clean up utility with like a 98mb gain but I am wondering if there is any part of vista still floating around?

If I'm reading correctly, you performed an upgrade installation rather than a clean installation? If that's the case, you never really know if something slipped through the cracks...

Is there a specific reason why you're wondering?

No, not really just curious if any one had found anything that might not be neseccary that could be removed

If you didnt do a clean install there are many vista remnants. If you upgraded and used the easy transfer wizard win 7 is based around your proevious OS. Ifyou did a clean instal and deleted off the windows. old folder without importing anything yo are clean as a whistle.

If anything remains, there will be no obvious visual indicator of it. And IF anything slipped through the cracks, it's unlikely that it would interfere with anything you do, and even if it did, the only way to fix it would be with a clean install anyway.

Basically, just go about business as usual ... you'll know if something ended up really broken, because the OS's performance will become abnormally crappy. As long as that doesn't happen, you're most likely safe.

The remnants that are ther you cant remove without breaking win 7. If your vista didnt have any problems you probably didnt bring any with you. The one thing you do want to check is the dates on your drivers. Vista drivers are 1-2 yeards old win 7 4-6 months.

If you need help with that let me know ok?

Hmm, the way i see it, if uve done an upgrade there more then likely will be reminants, you just won't notice till random problems start occuring one after the other.

IMO, you would be better off with doing a clean install, you would have the piece of mind, knowing that there are no reminants of any previous OS's.

    Thanks for the help everyone

I wasn't really shure what would be left behind but this seems to be cleared up.

I know that 7 (for me) is running great, seriously no problems, and I think it may be running better then vista was on the same system. So, if there is anything left behind it is prob not hurting my comp at this time

Do yourself a favor and go back and do a clean install now before the problems crop up. Upgrades are NEVER a good idea.
