    Re-enable Autorun for USB devices

    Hi,
I've searched everywhere but I could not find out if it is actually possible to restore the Autorun function (not AutoPlay...) for USB devices in Windows 7. That function has been disabled by Microsoft for security issues.

Is there a way to restore it, perhaps changing some keys in the registry?

Due to the current state of malware, and it's methods of proliferation, the autorun option has been removed from recent Windows versions. I can understand how this could be inconvenient for regular proven software but the alternative is a potential for completely destroying an install, or worse financial issues with the user's bank account and personal data being stolen.

You should get the option to run any install or application on the stick but the pause provided by the dialog should prevent the accidental running of code that you do not want to run.

As far as I am aware the Autorun code has been completely removed from the OS and therefore only re-engineering the complete system would allow it to be brought back
