Video library folder missing from libraries

Hello all,

This has been bugging me for some time so hopefully somebody can help me. In my Libraries folder in Windows 7 it has Documents, Pictures and Music. It does not have a videos library though. If somebody can help me with getting my videos folder then that would be brilliant. I have done a print screen. If you need any more details then I am happy to provide them.

Thank you,
Andy

Hello Andy, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This may be able to help restore the Videos library for you.

Hi there,

Thank you for that. I have already seen that though and I did try those things and it didn't work.

Did you use anything that removed the library?

Check to see if the newly added OPTION TWO or OPTION THREE in the same tutorial below may be able to help.

How about using Windows Media Center's "media library" dialog? Perhaps it would re-create the Video library (if it didn't already exist) for Explorer, at the same time as defining the Video library for its own use?

And then continue on from there, adding the one or more folders you have that you want to be part of the Videos library.

I'm sure this would work for WMC itself and its desire to be able to play Videos.

Hi there,

Just tried the media centre way and the folder is still not appearing. I just want the folder so I can be a bit more organised with my files. Everything in there correct folders.

Is there anything else that could work?

@Andy,

Did you give what I posted above a try yet?

Yes, I have tried all of the three steps and none of them are working.

I must point out as well when I created a new user account none of my library folders were appearing but I was able to create them by clicking the start button. To the right hand side there were links saying Username, Documents, Music and Pictures. There was not a videos folder though.

If this has just recently happened, then you could do a system restore using a restore point dated before the library went missing to hopefully fix it.

Otherwise, you may need to do a repair install to fix this.

Can you create a library?

Just a thought. Can you create a library? If you can't - then Brink's advice is good. Really you need to fix the problem rather than finding a workaround.

Hi, and thanks for this great forum! I've tried sorting this problem but haven't seen an answer specific for my problem. I created a library called "Utilities" (for my portable utilities that I use regularly.) It is there but it is no longer visible and I can't recreate it from Windows...
