Issue regarding Permissions, owners and ownership

    Hi there
I have recently found that my external hard drive has had an issue with Permissions. my user account is set as administrator, so i should have full access to modify/change/delete files as i wish. Unfortunately im getting problems like "you do not have access" or "you do not have permission to perform this action" when i go to say; delete a folder.
Now it doesnt appear to be all folders on the drive with this issue, although a lot of the folders that do have this problem were copied over from another computer recently.
I have found owners on the permissions list with names like:
    S-1-5-21-995445890-2241885707-1888917028-1000

Which gives no description or point of origin to where its come from.

I can change ownership of the entire drive, but i have access denied warnings for a lot of files/folders, so that doesnt really help in the end.

Could someone please help shed some light on whats going on, how it may of happened and definitely the most important how i can fix it :)

    greatly appreciated

Go to the folder and right click, go to properties. Next go to the Security tab, Advanced button, Permissions. Make sure that everything says Full control. Go back to Security and click edit, make sure everything in there is allowed. If it asks you to run as admin say yes.
