automatically launch software on connection of device

I thought this would be simple.
All I want to do is automatically launch Samsung KIES when I connect my phone.
The autoplay window opens when I connect the phone and shows the device, I can select 'view more autoplay options... ' from the list and open the control panel autoplay window where the device is listed. When I select the device I get the dropbox with various options to sync files, download immages etc. But there is no option to launch linked programs.
I know this can be done because my camera automatically launches lightroom when it is connected.
So how do I do this?

Just spent 3 hours searching for an answer.

Click Type the word: autoplay. Click the top result. In the window that pops up, scroll down to devices. For your phone, choose the action you want to happen every time.

    Andrew,

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately there is no option to launch software from the drop down list. I have already tried looking there.

Then normally this means the software (or the device) you want to start when plugging in the hardware does not support that feature. Cameras are different then cell phones, and lightroom would be coded to support that feature. It is up to the manufacturer of the software and device to allow or use autoplay.

However, Samsung keis does support this feature. I know it for a fact. Do you have Samsung keis software set to startup with your pc?

Do you have this setting checked?

    Settings>Applications>Development. Enable USB Debugging.

If so uncheck it so keis can auto start.

    Sorry,
I cant find this anywhere in Keis. On the phone USB debugging is not checked.

I am running the latest version of Keis, I have just checked.

    Thanks

KIES is a PITA and probably one of the worst pieces of software I have ever encountered.

Try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it and allowing it to run at system startup.

And yes USB debugging is on the phone not the keys software
