I still can't find a solution to that issue. I tried all i found : deleting "zones" in registry, removing/reinstalling it..

Once again, there is no sidebar in Windows 7, you'll never get proper help if you don`t start telling us what you are talking about, maybe some pictures would be nice.

    What happened to Windows Sidebar?

So... where did you get the file?

I don't have it on a fresh install.

edit:I checked 3 computers that have not been deployed yet (i.e. no users have changed them) before I made that statement. Now I have had a chance to check my virtual machines and I see the file named sidebar. I did not know that the file was not a part of the W7 image being deployed where I work. Sorry if the statement added any confusion.

I used my Shortcut called All Tasks (some call it God Mode) right after doing a fresh install. I'm not certain about this but I believe you have to add the gadgets before doing updates. At some point the gadget capability is disabled because MS feels there is too much of a hacking danger in using gadgets. This happened to me once and I had to search Sevenforums to learn the "right click on desktop" and select Gadgets, delete, then reactivate, or something like that ??? I've found that sometimes (after updating) they won't load, but if I do a restart right away they come back.

Hope you find this to be useful info.

well technically I think both vista and 7 have sidebars if im not mistaken. But there are different ways of rebuilding them if there is a issue.

How would I turn them on so that I can see them?
