Hmm... as far as i know the family pack is a package and was named so just to target consumers who would like to have Win7 on more than one computer but is on a budget. Most of the time Families work around that budget hence its called a family pack. :)
But like i said its just a simple marketing name that basically says you can get three for a cheaper price.
With that said i don't think Microsoft will be knocking on your door to ask for a Marriage license and a birth certificate
thanks for the reply.
with Office 2007 Home and student edition it says directly on the package something like, "this license is for home use only, not commercial or non-profit organizations"
so bascially i'm wondering if this is the same thing as that, or as you are suggesting, this is just the name of the version, but anyone can purchase it to save money on multiple purchases.
All the family pack says is "A family of PC"s". If you go to the Microsoft store online there are no limitations on the pack that are posted there. As a last resort you could call Microsoft but probably not necessary. I agree with the previous post...doubt Microsoft will be at your door complaining.
The reason for the Family pack is if you have more than one PC that needs upgrading and I haven't seen any limitations on this. Just a marketing tool to sell more copies of Win7.
But don't forget....it is 3 copies of "Win7 HOME premium" and not the Pro version so no XP mode, No RDP, No domain join, etc. Be sure that this version will do what you need before you buy it.
