I'm in the half who tried it and hated it.
I wasn't a big fan of 8.0, I wouldn't exactly say I hated it though. It does take some getting used to.
I like 8.1 and what they did in update 1. It's made it easier to use on my desktop PC with keyboard and trackball.
There are those that genuinely don't like it and I respect that, its not for everybody.

On the flip side I consider Windows 7 a great OS, maybe even one of the best Microsoft has produced.
There is nothing wrong with staying with 7 if that's what works for you. More power to you.

Over Christmas, my boss purchased all new computers for the company. He told the tech people that he wanted to update everything to the latest. The tech people told him to get Win 7 instead of Win 8. I think if Pros are saying this, Microsoft might have some problems selling Win 8.

As long as I can... Win 7 is a terrific OS IMHO. YMMV...

I don't do change for the sake of change. There has to be some incentive for me to spend my money on something new. I see no reason to move off 7 to a new OS that offers less of the things I like.

As long it does the job I need it to do I will be on 7.

I think what may change the landscape is GPT. When huge "spinners" get super cheap people won't want to be held down to 1 or 2 TB drives.

Although I'm hoping they come out with something that looks like W7 and has the GPT and secure boot stuff that W8 has. I wonder how long it will take for WD Black 4 TB drives to be sold bare for less than $100?

Ugh heck no. I hate secure boot. That thing needs to die. Never before was getting into safe mode such a pain in the a**. Its easy to get around to, so there isnt much security benefit.

IMHO, I don't really think it is to hard unless you can't even boot.

Will be using Windows 7 until support dies unless they come out with an OS that is very similar.

Until I decide to stop using it. It could be because I make the transition to Linux permanent, it could be b/c M$ comes out with a nice TechNet like program again, or it could even be b/c I build a Hackintosh....

Recycling a movie from my harddrive is taking long long time.
Why is this. Like 10 minutes plus and it still says recycling. It should only take a second. Is it bad to let it continue at its own pace or should I restart the PC and try it again?

Incredibly long delay from long on to desktop
I just installed a clean version of Win 7 Pro on my Thinkpad X200. Everything is great except for one small problem: there is a 25-30 second wait between the time i enter my logon pw and the time my desktop appears. This is highly unusual for several reasons. First, it doesn't "appear" as though...
