    Windows 'Text Document' arrange contents alphabetically ?


    Hello,

    as the title suggests, or asks,

    is their a way of sorting the text, inside a Text Document, alphabetically?

    I don't think so, at least not with Notepad. There may be some text editors out there that will do it, but I've never heard of one.

    Sure, just use the sort command and let it process the file. It will create another text file with the contents sorted as specified.

    The X2 editor does t his easily. I'm sure there are many others that will do this but X2 is the one I use and am familiar with.

This isn't such a big deal but I was just curious, does Windows 7 have any way to sort folder contents in true alphabetical order, like older versions of Windows used to? So that it sorts files like this: 1.txt 2000.txt 30.txt 4.txt
I have 3 documents of password files. 2 were copies. I carefully updated the main one and renamed it adding "after crash" to title so I could distinguish it. I checked the copies, which I did not want, had no info that was not on the main file, and wiped the contents before deleting the files as...
Seems there must be some program out there that will create a searchable Explorer-like document (such as html) of the contents of an external USB drive. Anyone know? I can already create lists but I am looking for something as described above.
