Laptop charging but charge % staying the same?

    Hello,

I got a new laptop about 3 weeks ago or so and just today I noticed that it was charging but stuck at 95%

I took the charger out let it drain down to 58% then put it back in again only to see that it's doing the exact same thing but now stuck on 58%

I then turned everything off, unplugged everything, took the battery out and help the power button for 30 seconds (I read somewhere this can work)...

...it did work and it charged all the way to 100%, but then after I took the charger out again and let it drain it's stuck again....same situation

I'm scared to drain the battery now

Even though the % isn't rising i'm still getting the full power from the battery as I've tested in very battery dependant programs and games, so It's not game breaking but just worrying as it could worsen.

    Any help is appreciated thanks

p.s. I know It's win 8 I'm running on, but this forum seems to be better as more people use it, and I'm fairly sure it can't be windows 8 specific problem I've got?

does it charge while the laptop is off??
the reason I ask is because I beleivr your laptop charger is not outputting enough power to charge the battery whuke in use.

to charge say a 12v battery the charger would have to produce more than 12v (around 14 to 16v) as well as output a higher Mah rating than the amount used by the laptop... basically.. your charger is pooped!!

    Hi, thanks for replying,

Well I just turned it off and took the battery out then in again, and now its charging fine and back up to 100%.

But this is more than likely going to be temporary like before, until i unplug the charger and the whole problem starts again.

are there any other ways of calibrating the battery?

Leave it on until it shuts down due to loos of battery power. Plug in the charger but lave the laptop off for a few hours and see if that helps when you turn it back on.

You're welcome, the key is to completely let the battery discharge, not 58%.
