Until you find out the cause, EditPad Lite 7 supports it. Control Backspace is in the edit keys list.

It doesn't work in Win 7 Notepad or in Explorer - get that rectangle instead. But it does work with the editor used on this site.

I just tried Notepad. It just outputs a funky character. It does work in Explorer folder search edit control though.

I think I can live without keyboard shortcuts that work some places but not others

You can do your own with AutoHotkey. I added control-t to transpose the last 2 characters typed in a bunch of browsers and editors. It's a common editor shortcut on Linux. It is not so common in Windows editing. At least not with the free Windows editors I use.

Yeah, I've used Autohotkey. wHAT WOULD BE MOST USEFUL IS A SHORTCUT THAT CAN TRANSPOSE into lower case all those characters I've typed since I last accidentally caught the Caps Lock

I've seen a bunch of caps lock ahk scripts. Some disable it unless you hold 2 or 3 keys down.

CTRL+backspace started minimizing windows instead of deleting words
Quite a strange problem. Out of nowhere, CTRL+backspace has started minimizing windows instead of backspacing the last word in a text box. This is very annoying, since I'm used to using this shortcut to fix mistakes or wiping small chunks of text. Even while writing this, I've minimized the browser...

Can’t use CTRL-F6 in Word when open multiple files f/ Windows Explorer
I believe I’ve run into a bug with Windows Explorer, however, it could possibly be with Word 2010. If it’s not a bug, and can be “fixed” by your helping me, that would be wonderful! (I use Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit.) This is what does work just fine: From Word, I open a file, then open...
