By the way, whoever said a system running 7 Starter couldnt run Ultimate, your wrong. My windows netbook originally came with starter, and I upgraded it successfully to ultimate soon after I bought it. Also, I bought the upgrade before Windows 8 came out so please stop calling it bogus. I knew that, as soon as Windows 8 came out, Microsoft would stop selling Windows 7 Upgrades. I misstyped the topic, because I last posted on a forum about this right after 8 came out, and what I meant to say was "A while ago I bought the Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade." Sorry about the typo.

I know that a key cannot be bought on its own. I bought the upgrade on my friends computer, and when it gave me the key, i tried to use it to upgrade his os but it wouldnt let me. Sorry for the confusion.
    What gave you a key?

I already upgraded his OS while he wasn't looking, and his account was open. Thanks anyway
An upgrade install takes 30 minutes or so, He "wasn't looking" for awhile.

    See post #15.
I never said Ult wouldn't work on an original Starter system. I wondered if it would given starter was put on very low-end, lower powered machines with little RAM. Ult can work on many systems but may be feature-limited and slow.
