xp to windows 7. where can I buy and download the 7 upgrade?

I got it once from the microsoft store as a digital download. seems they no longer have anything related to 7.

So, my friend wants to upgrade from xp to 7. 32 bit. where can we find this to buy online, preferably as a download so we can pay and install it today?

    thanks. :)

Im guessing we don't want OEM correct? we just need the upgrade. right?

There is no more upgrade. OEM is the only available version. Nothing wrong with OEM. Most people use that. And it is better to have the original disc rather than only a download.

    Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32-bit (Slim Envelope) - Operating Systems

Make sure you save all your files before you install.

I also saw this one. I don't really know what the deal is here because that is very cheap. But TigerDirect is a serious company.

That is with the Mail-In Rebate. He still has to pay the $124 up front.

Thanks Jim. I did not see that. I never had problems with MIRs. If it works, it is a good deal. The next best is $99.99.

Remember that if you install OEM version it is locked to that mobo for its life and cannot be moved.

I believe the bundle requires you trial the AV software, but you can opt out of paying for it after a trial period if you pay close attention.

A retail version you can migrate from one system to another. An OEM version you cannot migrate. It has to stay where it was first installed.

You have to ask yourself how often you would take your OS off one system and install it on another system. If you do that once, you break even with an OEM version because it costs only about half of a retail version. If you do that more often, then a retail version is a better deal. If you never migrate your OS to another system (like me), then the OEM version saves you money.
