Can not delete folder on external USB HHD

    Hello,
I cannot delete folder with another empty folder on my external USB HHD. (E:)
Message: "item is no longer in location E:/. Check the location of the item and try again" (= free translation from dutch, see attachment)

Above folders are remains from backup of folders from my laptop HDD, and during deletion of this backup I noticed some temp files
I can rename the folder but thats it

    Anyone an idea ?
    Thanks

Did the drive come with backup software included? If so the best way to get rid of this crapware so it can't interfere is to wipe the drive with Diskpart Clean Command and then repartition it in Disk Mgmt: Partition or Volume - Create New.

Be sure to back up all files first.

If this is another backup program for which you merely saved data to the external, try Take Ownership Shortcut to delete it.

    Hello,
I always use Acronis to carry out backups
Took ownership of the folder but could not delete the folder
Remembered that this backup was from files from my laptop with Linux
Connected the external HDD to this laptop and could folder without a problem
I need not to mix backups of different OS on the same HDD
    Thanks for your help
