Windows 7: Telephone call informs me that my pc has been hacked ???

I've had several of them. I normally string them along by acting stupid, such as acting like I don't know what a computer is or why is M$ calling about my Mac (no, I do NOT have one). The last one caught me at a bad time and in a bad mood. My caller ID said the call was from some east coast directory assistance. As soon as the north end of a southbound horse with an Indian accent claimed to be from M$, I called him a (expletives deleted) stupid liar and told him to go to a place noted for its excessively warm climate, then hung up.

I tell them I have to get in my office to my computer and to call back at my office phone and give them the number to my local Police Dept.

Do these guys choose their targeted phone numbers completely at random?

Or from a selected list? Listed numbers only?

I've never had such a call and wonder why. I can't recall every getting any type of tele-marketing call either.

They called me (again) a couple of weeks ago.
There were so many scammers talking (in the "factory") that I couldn't understand the guy.

I just initialised my 1TB hard Drive (which is still empty) and wanted to call it D but the system suggested I call it E because other programs may wish to use the D that has been allocated to the Optical Drive. So I left it at E. Any particular reason why I can't go back in and change...

Telephone LED Displays
I doubt that there is anything that I can do, short of returning the phones to GE for repair, but since I'm not likely to do that, I shall ask here. A couple weeks ago, I allowed my apartment to get particularly cold one night, and when I awoke, I found that both of the LED displays of the...
