    Question about refreshing taskbar icons

    Hi,

If I create a Chrome Application shortcut for a webpage, the taskbar icon seems to be fixed and won't update even if the icon for the webpage updates as in this screenshot

Is there anything that can be done to make the main taskbar icon refresh to match the webpage?

    Thanks

Hello Wallis, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Does the taskbar thumbnail preview of the Chrome icon update when you move the pointer away to close the preview window, and move the pointer back to open it again?

Thanks, I think I've figured out a workaround actually. I realised the taskbar buttons were set to Always Combine, so the icons weren't actually representing the icon of the running program. Switching to Never Combine means the button is linked to the program instance now so the icon updates properly (in the example screenshot the red dot now appears on the taskbar icon too). And there's a registry hack to hide the ugly old labels that show up when not combining and restore the buttons to their previous small size here windows 7 - Is there any way to hide taskbar labels and not combine taskbar buttons? - Super User
