Desktop background all black except for icons

When I booted the computer this morning, I let check disk run. Now my monitor background is black. The icons are visible and colored properly. I select my own background that is changed every 15 minutes. I used Control Panel and reselected my theme but it didn't work. Any suggestions?

See what happens when you set one of the Windows default themes...

Bill might be worth running these too mate

https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html< if this runs clean again no problems but you can use the options in Option 2 from the tutorial if you even sniff a possible problem.

I have found that when there is a glitch with the desktop, setting one of the default themes straightens out the problem 75% of the time, then I go back and set my preferences...

After about an hour, all of a sudden my original background came alive. I don't know how or why it occurred but it seems to be working properly. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll copy them in case it happens again.
