Strange symbol appears on screen

This strange symbol appeared on my screen when I booted up today.
I'm not going anywhere near it - will not click on it.
I'd really appreciate your ideas on what it might be and if I can

safely right click on it and delete it. Ellen

strange symbol on screen

thanks very much for your reply. Guess what? I have all three malwares listed, plus others in my system tray and for the single antivirus, Norton Internet Security. I have Superanti and Malware set to run auto. Will do AdwCleaner now. Hopefully, that will take care of it. If not, I'll just leave it there forever -- not going to touch it (It's not listed in my Users/Ellen desktop folder). Your attention to my problem is much appreciated. ellen

Ellen the other thing you could did is to system restore to before it appeared. If it appears again then you can try this
Download Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 you need to make a bootable disk but it only takes a short time to run and starts from as soon as you power on the machine.

What it looks like

It looks to me like the selection tool that's part of Revo Uninstaller's hunter mode. That's from memory as I haven't used that software in a long time.

From the Revo website:

Revo Uninstaller Features - Uninstall and Remove Programs, delete junk files

Watch the video....

If you've got Revo installed you've probably activated the Hunter.

That was indeed a nice catch by Callender and that is indeed the Revo Uninstaller Hunter Mode drop box.

If you do not want to see the icon, just right click on it, uncheck "Auto Start with Windows" (if it is checked) and click on EXIT.
